Tanzania Premier League giants Young Africans (Yanga) SC has raided arch-rivals Simba SC for services of their captain Mohamed Hussein.
Yanga said in a statement: “CAPTAIN FOUND IN THE WILDERNESS! Welcome to the home of Champions Mohamed Hussein.”

Hussein, who is currently with the Tanzania national team in the ongoing CHAN Championship, had recently taken to social media thanking Simba for the years they shared together.
“Nearly 11 years of joy, sorrow, celebrations, cheers and even heartbreaks inside the Pride (Simba SC),” read part of his emotional statement. “With unwavering loyalty, professional discipline and highest-level commitment, sweating for the club’s badge was always my mission and goal. This decision was entirely based on my personal development, long-term interests and my unwavering professional standards,” he wrote.
“I take this opportunity to thank the club’s leaders, the entire technical bench, and operation staff who walked with me during all these years at Simba,” Hussein noted.
The experienced defender is seen as a perfect fit in Yanga’s backline due to his tactical awareness, overlapping abilities, and calmness under pressure.
Hussein joined Simba SC in 2014 from Kagera Sugar and quickly established himself as a regular starter. During his time at the club, he helped Simba to multiple league titles including the Mapinduzi Cup trophies, and successful CAF Champions League campaigns that saw the club reach the quarterfinal stages on several occasions.
