Lille defender Leny Yoro is travelling to Manchester to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms as Manchester United closes in on signing him.
That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who reports on Wednesday that while the 18-year-old’s original preference was to join Real Madrid, he has warmed to the idea of moving to United and the latest developments are a big step forward, although there remains work to be done.

It was reported last week that United and Lille had agreed a €62million (£52m) fee, with the Ligue 1 club looking to cash in on their prized asset now as opposed to losing him for free next summer when his contract is up.
United have been heavily linked with several centre backs this summer, notably Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Ligt, but it appears they are now nearing a deal for their primary defensive target. However, any further defensive signings would likely depend on creating financial and squad space through departures.
Yoro’s services have been pursued by other top clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but his initial preference for Real Madrid seemed to position them as the front-runners.
Despite this, United’s persistence has brought them close to completing the transfer. Barring any late surprises, Yoro’s move to Manchester appears imminent.
