“Tusker would like to confirm that two of our players have left the team to join the Administration Police Training College (APTC),” the club said in a statement. “Midfielder Curtis Wekesa and young defender George Odhiambo have left the squad to pursue another career path. This will now bring to three, the players who have left the team after the start of the season, with Issa Lumumba having earlier left to join the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).”
On his part, coach Charles Okere added,“We have now lost three players who have joined the uniformed forces. As much as it is a blow in terms of our personnel, we have to work with the squad left. We believe in each and every person and we now have to find other players to fill the voids,” the tactician said.
“We wish them well in their new ventures. It is an opportunity you cannot deny any player and as a team we believe in giving people opportunities. When the window comes, we will look at the possibility of bringing in other players, but as at now, it is a chance opened up for someone else to rise to the occasion.”
“The departure of the three now leaves Tusker FC with a registered squad of 26 players, and the coaching team will now look into filling those voids when the mid-season window opens.”
