Neddy Atieno marked her return to the national team fold with four goals as Harambee Stars thrashed South Sudan 8-0 in a 2022 AWCON Qualifier staged at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday 20, October 2021.
Neddy, who captains Ulinzi Starlets in the Kenya Women Premier League, wasted no time in showing her intent when she gave the home side a deserving lead a minute into the game; she was to double her and Starlets tally two minutes later.

While South Sudan resorted to sitting back and controlling the array of attacks from the home side, it was Neddy again who grabbed her hattrick in the 33rd minute with her strike partner Gentrix Shikangwa ensuring Starlets had a healthy 4-0 lead heading into the break.
Mwanahalima Adam, who was returning after signing for Turkish side Hakkarigucu Spor last week, was to bag a brace of her own with Neddy and Gentrix scoring the other goals in the second half.
The winner on the aggregate of the two-legged fixture will advance to the final round of the qualifiers where they will meet either Uganda or Ethiopia who faced each other in another clash in Uganda on the game.
There are a total of eleven teams bidding to earn a place to participate at the AWCON in Morocco in July 2022.
