Kangemi Ladies Fc forward Fasila Adhiambo is the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) Player of the Month for February/March 2022, in the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) 2021-2022 Season.

In four fixtures played between the two months due to a break, Adhiambo proved instrumental for her side after scoring six goals in four matches to help Kangemi record their only win of the season against Mumias side Wadadia FC.

“I am really proud and happy for having won this award. I did not expect but I thank God,” said Adhiambo, noting that the focus is now on finishing as the league’s top scorer.

“The league is almost coming to end and I am looking forward to finishing the season on a high, hoping to score more goals to finish as the top scorer and also feature in the coming Gala Awards,” she noted.
On his part, head coach Joseph Orao noted that the award is a motivation to the team, and he is confident Adhiambo will finish as the top scorer.

“We are happy for this award to come to our team. It is a big motivation to these young girls and we are proud of Fasila. She has been really outstanding this season and even despite missing some games due to an injury, she is still among the top scorers,” said Orao.

The Under 20 national team goal poacher bagged 37 votes to beat off competition from Ulinzi Starlets’ midfielder Diana Shakava (26) and Christine Kadima (20) from Kayole Starlets.

The 17-year-old becomes the third player to win the award this season in the WPL, after Zetech Sparks’ Joy “KingLady” Ayiro and Phoebe Oketch from Vihiga Queens.

She walked home with a personalized trophy and a cheque worth Ksh. 10,000.
