Wadadia Fc midfielder Faith Ivy Omondi has been voted as the best player of the month (April) in the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL), after being instrumental in helping the Mumias-based side in attack.

 

Speaking ahead of their final league match against Thika Queens, Ivy noted that she was now shifting focus on finishing on a high, and possibly making the season’s best 11.

“I am very happy for winning this award. It has been a tough season and this means that the efforts and hard work I put in place with the support of my teammates and coaches have been appreciated.

 

“I am now looking forward to finishing the season superbly and also making the KEFWA 11 team of the season,” said Ivy optimistically.

 

On his part, head coach Sylvanus Wesonga expressed his delight, noting that the attacking midfielder has put up an exemplary performance throughout the season.

 

“We are happy and I am personally proud of her achievement. Ivy is disciplined and committed to training. The good performances showcased in the league matches have now been rewarded,” he said.

 

The 22-year-old bagged 31 votes to win the award that has Ulinzi Starlet’s Cindy Ngaira and Belinda Christine from Kisumu All Starlets come second and third respectively with 25 and 22 votes.

 

She walked home with a personalized trophy and a cash award worth Ksh. 10,000.
