Harambee Starlets striker Marjolene Nekesa was introduced in the second half as Slavia Praha went 3-0 down to AS Roma on Thursday night to wave goodbye to the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The visitors who beat Praha 1-0 in the reverse fixture were to take a 32nd-minute lead through Glacinti beforeKollmats ensured they had a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break. The Italians continued from where they left with a third goal just two minutes after half time with a goal from Linari to put the game beyond the hosts.

The loss means that Praha finished bottom of the group with two points with Wolfsburg and Roma advancing to the next round of the competition with 14 and 13 points respectively. Polten finished third in the group with four points.

Slavia began her group campaign with a 1-0 loss to Roma before being beaten 2-0 by Wolfsburg in match day two. The loss was to continue in match day three where they lost 1-0 to Polten but held the same opponents to a 1-1 draw in match day four. A scoreless draw against giants Wolfsburg was to leave them with some pride in match week five but Roma ensured they finished the group with a 3-0 loss.

Nekesa featured in all the six games of the competition and will now shift her attention to the league where they are scheduled to take on Slovacko in their next fixture after the holidays. Slavia is currently placed second on the league log with 28 points, just a point off leaders Sparta.
