FKF Women Premier League top scorer and Thika Queens captain Wendy Achieng is set to undergo surgery following her injury last week in a league game.
Wendy had to be withdrawn in their clash against Zetech Sparks FC last week; a match they lost 0-1 and was rushed to hospital thereafter. While she was discharged from the Kenyatta Hospital after initial checkups, she was booked for surgery after tests revealed she had a broken nose.

“Im currently feeling well after receiving some medication,” Wendy told Pepeta. “I have however been booked for a closed reduction nasal bone fracture surgery this week. It’s a minor procedure and I’m hoping that I’ll be back to the pitch soon.”

The injury can take about three to four weeks after surgery but the player might be needed to wear a nose splint or a protective face mask in her first days back in action.
Wendy is currently the league’s top scorer after notching 13 goals in 11 games having missed her club’s last weekend win against Trans Nzoia Falcons FC. Queens are currently placed third on the log with 24 points and will need Wendy to be fit as they look to topple leaders Vihiga Queens who are just a point above them.
