Tanzania Women’s national team attacker Opa Clement has joined Turkish giants Besiktas for an undisclosed period.

The player has been a key figure in the Simba Queens team where she was the captain and left after notching nine goals in the ongoing Serengeti Lite Tanzania Women’s Premier League.

Confirming the arrival of the player, Besiktas noted: “Welcome to Beşiktaş Vodafone Opa Clement Tukumbuke.

“Beşiktaş Vodafone Women’s Football Team recently signed a contract with striker Opa Clement Tukumbuke, who played for Simba Queen club. We welcome Opa Clement Tukumbuke and wish him many successes with our glorious jersey.”

On her side, the player said: “It is a dream come true to play professional football again in Europe. I thank my new Club for signing me, and I will work hard to make sure to help the Club achieve its set objectives.”

The striker who made her debut for the Tanzania national team during the 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship returns to Turkey for a second spell after playing for Kayseri Kadin FK in early 2022.

Tukumbuke also guided Simba Queens SC to the semi-final stage of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League that was held in Morocco and becomes the second lady from East Africa to feature for the side after Esse Akida of Kenya.
