The Kenya U20 Women’s national team, the Rising Starlets, have been eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers following a 3-2 loss to Cameroon on Friday evening.
Starlets had gone 3-0 down to the same opponents in the first leg staged in Cameroon and now bow out on a 6-2 aggregate.

Things started turning bad for the home side even before they could kick a ball after Valerie Nekesa was brought in to replace injured Fasila Adhiambo who injured herself in the warm-up. While Starlets started the game well, it was Cameroon who took the lead through Naomi Eto; her goal being the difference in the first half.
Beldine Odemba in her aim to chase the game threw in Charity Midewa and Ruth Akinyi at the start of the second half and it was the former restoring parity with her first kick of the game. The celebration didn’t last long though as Eto stepped up from the penalty spot to restore Cameroon’s lead after Tabitha Amoit had handled in her box.
Christine Kiki added a third later with a long-range shot to render Midewa’s late goal a mere consolation.
