Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has revealed that they helped facilitate Sheryl Angachi’s release from the military camp.

The midfielder had been ruled out of Harambee Starlets clash against Botswana this week owing to her training with the Kenya Defence Force but Namwamba, during his visit to the player’s camp on Tuesday, revealed that he talked with the government to make the midfielder available.

“The government has offered its full support to the team. We have also helped facilitate the release of Ulinzi Starlets midfielder Sheryl Angachi from the Kenya Defence Forces recruitment training. We will be looking forward to them putting on a good game tomorrow as they face Botswana, who are equally as tough and talented as our ladies,” Namwamba is quoted by the Federation’s portal.

On his part, FKF President Nick Mwendwa’s said: “I must say Asante sana to the CS for committing to support the Harambee Starlets and ensuring there is government support for all our national teams so that they prepare well and bear positive results.”

Harambee Starlets play Botswana in the first leg on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Afterward, they play Botswana in the second leg away on December 5, 2023.
