Harambee Starlets forward Esse Akida was among the goal scorers as AC PAOK extended their unbeaten run in the Greece Women’s top-flight football to 13 games with a 2-0 win over Asteras Tripoli on Saturday.
The dominant PAOK started the game brightly but were undone by poor finishing with their hosts holding on for a scoreless draw in the first half.

PAOK made a change at the start of the second half when coach Thalis Theodoridis brought on Papadopoulou for Dzourdjevic as he moved Helmvall to the wings to boost his attack. PAOK ought to have taken the lead four minutes after the resumption when the opposing keeper thwarted Akida’s effort but the rebound from Papadopoulou was blocked by the opponents.
The visitor’s efforts however paid in the 55th minute when Papadopoulou’s vertical ball was snapped by Akida who beat two opposing defenders before slotting past the keeper. They were to double their tally six minutes later when Akida hit the crossbar and with captain Vardali tapping home from the rebound.
Akida was to be replaced in the 86th minute by Kalienzidou but the damage had already been done with the win seeing the club maintain their perfect start to the season where they have won all their 13 games.
