Kenya Under 17 Women’s Team, Junior Starlets, have made history by qualifying for the 2024 FIFA Women Under 17 World Cup.
This remarkable feat follows their 5-0 aggregate victory over Burundi in the fourth and final round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers; Kenya beating their opponents 2-0 in the second leg staged at Ulinzi Complex on Sunday after beating the same opponents 3-0 in the first leg staged in Ethiopia last week.
In the second leg, staged in front of the home fans, Marion Serenge opened the scoring in the 17th minute with Valerie Nekesa doubling the lead four minutes; the second half witnessing no goals.
Throughout the qualifiers, the Junior Starlets have displayed exceptional defensive and offensive prowess, not conceding a single goal while scoring eight. They secured a 3-0 aggregate win against Ethiopia and a 5-0 aggregate win against Burundi, earning their spot in the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set to be hosted in the Dominican Republic.
