Kenya Women Football Under 17 team, Junior Starlets, began their Spain preparation camp with a resounding 4-1 win over Valencia CF Femino on Wednesday night.
The young Kenyan side wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Madira’s Valerie Nekesa breaking the deadlock just nine minutes into the game. The dynamic forward was a constant threat in the opposition’s half, doubling her tally in the 26th minute to put Kenya firmly in control.

14 years old, Lindey Atieno scored Kenya’s third goal in the 36th minute, capping off a brilliant first-half performance. Kenya headed into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead, leaving the hosts chasing shadows.
The second half saw more of the same from the Starlets, with Atieno once again on target in the 56th minute, securing her brace and Kenya’s fourth goal of the match. Despite a late consolation goal from Valencia two minutes from time, the Starlets never looked in danger, wrapping up a comfortable 4-1 victory.
With this confidence-boosting win under their belt, the team now shifts focus to their next encounters. The Starlets will face Portugal on Friday, 27 September, followed by a clash against Intercity on Monday, 30 September.
These matches are crucial as part of their preparations for the FIFA U17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic next month, where they will be looking to make an impact on the global stage.
