Just weeks after being appointed head coach of Bunyore Starlets, Nick Aketch has stepped down from his role.
The tactician cited an “antagonistic environment” and lack of support as key reasons for his resignation with his brief tenure having him oversee two defeats in the FKF Women Premier League, losing 3-0 to Trinity Starlets and 2-0 against Police Bullets, leaving them at the bottom of the table.

In a statement following his resignation on October 13, 2024, the former Kisumu AllStars head coach said: “Kindly be notified that due to the antagonistic environment at Bunyore Starlets FC and inadequate support to aid me in achieving my set goals for the club, I’d been compelled to step down as the head coach of the club yesterday, immediately after the match against Kenya Police.”
Aketch acknowledged the opportunity to lead the team but emphasized that the conditions made it difficult for him to succeed.
“I beg to thank the entire club management for having found it prudent to engage me, but more importantly, I will forever remain grateful to the players for the trust they had in me,” he stated.
Despite the disappointing results on the pitch, Aketch expressed his appreciation for the players, highlighting their commitment and support during his time at the club. He concluded his statement by wishing the team success in the future; “I wish them(players) all the best in their future endeavours.”
Bunyore will now have to move with speed to look for a new tactician as the games are coming hard and thick starting with their next outing against Kibera Soccer Women in round three of the Women’s Premier League.
