Turkish giants Besiktas has confirmed the signing of Harambee Starlets forward Cynthia Shilwatso for an undisclosed period.
A statement from the club noted, “Beşiktaş United Payment women’s football added Kenyan forward/midfielder Shilwatso Cynthia Musungu (born 1999 in Nairobi) today. She last played for Logrono in Spain.”

Shilwatso moves to Besiktas from Ukraine side ZFC Kryvbas, where she had been since March 2023. Her previous stint had seen her represent Tanzania side Fountain Gate Prince, where she took the league by storm after scoring nine goals and providing four assists in the 11 league games she participated in.
Besiktas will be Shilwatso’s third team in Europe having been in the books of Spanish side Logrono before.
There is no time to rest for the former Vihiga Queens player as Besiktas has a tie against arch rivals Fenerbahce on Sunday 17th November with ties against Amed, Fatih Vatan and Hakkarigucu to follow.
Besiktas is currently placed sixth in the league with 16 points after eight games; eight points below leaders Fenerbahce.
She becomes the second Kenyan to represent the team after Esse Akida who was part of the team in 2020.
