Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (FKFWPL) side WADADIA FC, has announced its disbandment due to financial constraints, marking the end of an era for the club.
As per the club statement the decision was deemed necessary by the management team in light of ongoing challenges.
“The decision to release the players from camp has been one of the hardest we’ve ever made,” expressed the club’s management. “We have had several back-and-forth discussions exploring our options, and sadly, we still ended up here.”

The management clarified that the disbandment was not a reflection of the players’ performance or dedication even though the Mumias-based side sat last on the log with 4 points in 11 games. On the contrary, they commended the players for their unwavering commitment both on and off the pitch.
“For over 10 years, Wadadia FC has been more than just a team; it has been a home, a family, and a platform for empowering young women to dream big,” the statement continued. The club highlighted its impactful initiatives, such as the Kick Fistula Out of Africa campaign, which aims to raise awareness about women’s reproductive health in the community.
Despite significant investments from the Women And Development Against Distress In Africa (WADADIA) management team, the club has struggled to secure sufficient support from FKF, sponsors, and other stakeholders. This lack of financial backing ultimately made it impossible to sustain operations at the level required to support the team adequately.
“Keeping the players in camp without the ability to fully support them would be a greater injustice. Releasing them now gives them the chance to explore opportunities with other clubs and continue their growth as players,” the statement explained.

The management has however assured players that this disbandment is not the end of Wadadia FC but rather a moment to regroup, reflect, and plan for a stronger comeback in the future.
“To our invaluable players: We see your pain, and it breaks our hearts,” the statement addressed the team directly. “Your talents and potential are undeniable, and wherever you go, we trust that you’ll continue to shine and carry the Wadadia spirit with you.”
Addressing the fans, the club has expressed gratitude for their unwavering support over the years and urged them to continue advocating for women’s empowerment in sports.
“This is not goodbye; it’s a new chapter,” the statement concluded optimistically. “Together, we can reimagine how best to support these young women and create a future where their talents and dreams are fully realized.”
This announcement marks a pivotal moment in the history of Wadadia FC a club that has nurtured several football stars in the country, emphasizing both the challenges faced by women’s football in Kenya and the resilience of its players and supporters in the face of such adversity.
