The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has held a consultative meeting with clubs participating in the FKF Women’s Premier League (WPL) to discuss key areas aimed at improving the league’s structure, competitiveness, and sustainability.
The discussions centred on enhancing officiating standards, strengthening league branding, and exploring commercialization opportunities to ensure financial sustainability.

Key Discussion Points
1. Safeguarding and Women’s Football Policies The federation emphasized the need for stronger safeguarding measures to create a safe and inclusive environment for players, technical staff, and stakeholders.
2. Club Licensing
FKF reviewed and reinforced club licensing requirements to professionalize team structures and ensure compliance with league standards.
3. Facility Mapping
A comprehensive mapping exercise was proposed to identify and approve standard facilities for WPL matches across different regions. Clubs were given a two-week deadline for facility verification.
4. Match Recording
FKF explored ways to ensure all WPL matches are recorded, both for developmental purposes and to attract commercial investment in women’s football.
5. Capacity Building
The federation plans to organize workshops for WPL clubs, including training sessions for club media officers to enhance communication, marketing, and branding efforts.
6. Match Commissioner Reporting
A structured post-match reporting system will be introduced, including a standardized template to be signed by both teams. Additionally, FKF aims to develop a digital reporting platform for future use.
The meeting also addressed key league matters, including the finalization of remaining fixtures and preparations for the FKF Women’s Cup 2025, which is set to kick off on the weekend of March 29-30, 2025.
