South Sudan Women’s national team went 0-5 down at the Juba National Stadium on Monday 19th February 2025 in the first leg first round of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 Qualifiers.

Laura Carine Taleb gave the visitors the lead after 20 minutes before Lea Soizic Abdoub doubled their lead at the stroke of halftime.

Algeria were awarded a penalty just two minutes after the resumption, but skipper Guellati Sofia failed to convert from the spot. They however made it 3-0 two minutes later through Naima Bouhani Ben scored.

Ghouthia Habiba extended their lead from the penalty spot minutes to the hour mark before South Sudan defender Dorka Gerald Lokeri turned Quassila Alduache’s free-kick into her own net four minutes from time.

Seven more teams from the CECAFA Zone will be in action in the first leg of the qualifiers with Tanzania on Equatorial Guinea in Dar es Salaam on Thursday. On Friday Uganda Crested Cranes will host Ethiopia, Djibouti will battle Togo, Rwanda will take on Egypt in Kigali with Kenya will host Tunisia in Nairobi. Burundi will take on Burkina Faso on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025.
