Kenya’s Harambee Starlets began their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers with a goalless draw against Tunisia at the Ulinzi Complex Stadium on Friday 21st February 2025.
The home side coach had decided to go with Besiktas striker Cynthia Shilwatso to lead her attack where she was supported by Mwanahalima Adam and Elizabeth Wambui from both wings and their start was ecstatic.

Adam missed two glorious chances in the earlier proceedings before Tunisia started settling into the game where most of their attacks were spearheaded by Salma Zemzem; the Tunisian greasing the side net in the 20th minute as they looked to take the lead.
While Started started getting their mojo back, Tunisia resorted to time-wasting tactics where they fell on the ground quite easily with the referee not making the hosts work any easier by pulling some dubious calls in the game; such a move seeing Starlets captain Dorcas Shikobe being awarded a yellow card in the first half after replays showed that she neatly won a ball.
Kenya was to make a few subs in the second half with one of the moves seeing Violet Nanjala being introduced for the ineffective Shilwatso after fans had called for a change in the attack. The home side increased the tempo in the last ten minutes with Adam missing a header late on and Vivian Corazone tamely shooting at the keeper after being teed by Adam.
The results mean Tunisia has an upper hand heading to the second leg of the tie that is set for Tunis on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
