The matches will form part of Bedine Odemba’s coached side in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers, where they are set to meet Gambia in the final round of Qualification in October. Gambia on the other hand secured their place in the next round after defeating Niger 2-0 and 2-1 for an aggregate 4-1 in their respective ties. Starlets will host Gambia in Nairobi on October 20th 2025, before traveling to Gambia for the second leg eight days later.
Starlets made it to the last round of qualifiers after overcoming Tunisia 1-0 on aggregate despite having been held to a goalless draw by the North African nation in the first leg staged in Nairobi.
Starlets have never been to the AWCON since their maiden appearance in 2016 but have come agonizingly close on two occasions.
The tournament will feature 12 teams split into three groups of four. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals, from where the competition adopts a knockout format leading up to the final.
