Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is expected to return to France in the summer with the club ready to listen to offers for him.

The Frenchman has been blowing hot and cold for United and there are reports that United are ready to cash on him to boost their transfer kitty as they look to bolster their attack with a serious striker.

“I could see Anthony Martial returning to France this summer and one potential landing spot could be Lyon. Martial came through the youth academy there before moving to Monaco and breaking through at senior level there, and Lyon tends to like trying to repatriate some of their homegrown players,” French football expert Jonathan Johnson wrote on CaughtOffside.

Apart from Lyon, Lens is said to have earmarked the striker as a replacement for Lois Openda who is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe after helping the side qualify for the Champions League last season.

The player however will have to cut down his wages if he is to return to France as a few teams in the French top flight can manage to pay his £200,000-a-week wages.

Injuries have been a major impediment to the player’s growth with Martial missing a staggering 29 games last season and never completed 90 minutes.
