Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy has called up Gor Mahia midfielder Austin Odhiambo to the national team.

Odhiambo had missed the earlier squad but now finds himself in the team following the withdrawal of midfielder Victor Wanyama who was making a return to the national fold after earlier retiring from duty.

According to the Federation in a communication, Wanyama who was set to mark a highly anticipated return to the national team fold, having been included in the squad for the first time since announcing his retirement from international football in 2021, will be out due to personal commitments in the United Kingdom.

Odhiambo who has been in fine form in recent FKF Premier League matches this season since returning from injury, will be hoping that he can impress the South African tactician in the two friendlies against Chad which are set to be played in Morocco.

Stars will face Chad in a pair of friendly matches scheduled for June 7 and June 10, 2025 in Morocco with the friendlies forming part of their preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August.
