Carlo Ancelotti is set to be named as the new manager of the Brazil national team according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian federation (CBF) has been chasing Ancelotti for a long time now and with the Italian set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, his appointment as the next manager of the Selecao now looks more likely than ever.

According to Romano in a recent report, Brazil expect Ancelotti to be ready to take over as Brazil’s coach in June. He will, after all, complete the league campaign with Los Blancos.

To make sure the Italian tactician arrives, the CBF are willing to offer Ancelotti a record salary as part of his contract and will thus make him the highest-paid manager of the Brazilian national team ever.

Earlier this month, word had it that they even may match the wages he is paid at Real Madrid currently. Considering the massive gap in wages between coaches who serve at clubs and national teams, that came as a statement of their desperation.

The Brazilian national team have been far from their best for a while now and the board hope Ancelotti can help them re-establish themselves as one of the best in the world in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. With Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, Endrick and Eder Militao all regulars with the Selecao, Ancelotti will have many familiar faces should he finalise his move.
