Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has explained why he didn’t give a call-up to midfielder Eric Johanna Omondi despite his terrific form with his club.

Omondi has scored nine goals so far for Muang Thong United in the Thai top-flight league and Firat admitted that he had the player in his plans but didn’t hand him a call-up as he is currently injured; the same fate befalling striker Jonah Ayunga who plies his trade with Scottish side St. Mirren.

“Eric Johana and Jonah Ayunga were in my plans but they are injured so we shall see them at a future date,” Firat said as quoted by the Federation’s portal.

In the absence of Omondi, Firat has given maiden call-ups to Nzoia Sugar FC duo of midfielder Hassan Beja and playmaker Joseph Mwangi and AFC Leopards attacker Victor Omune who have had a brilliant outing in the first half of the FKF Premier League season.
