AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia coaches found themselves on the wrong end of fans’ wrath after failing to get the desired results in round eight of the FKF Premier League action.

It was a round that had a lot of talking points with coaches being attacked and Mathare United and Sofapaka getting rare wins. We dwell on the major issue of the round.

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards fans attack coaches

It was a tough week for coaches in the biggest clubs in the league with Leo Neiva and Thomas Trucha being attacked by both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards fans respectively.

Neiva had to be whisked away after their 2-2 draw against Murang’a Seal after his club three a two-goal lead at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos. Police had to be called to defend the Brazilian by lobbying teargas at the angry fans who had expressed their dissatisfaction even before the game following last week’s loss to Nairobi City Stars.

At the Kinoru Stadium, Leiva’s counterpart in the AFC Leopards dugout Trucha wasn’t spared either as the club stewards had to defend him after the game following his 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars. Fans threw projectiles at the tactician while they expressed their dissatisfaction at the results in what was their third loss of the season.

Shabana remains rooted at the foot of the log

Shabana FC remained at the bottom of the league following their 0-1 loss to Nairobi City Stars at Gusii Stadium.

The club is rumoured to be on the verge of sacking coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omolo who was a missing figure in the loss with his new assistant Peter Okidi tasked with leading the team; the results, however, remaining the same with the team being the only one yet to win a game this season.

The team has now gone six matches without a win, leaving them at the bottom of the standings with just three points. Things don’t get easier for them as they have Police FC, Muranga’a Seal, AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz in their next four games.

Mathare ends KCB’s unbeaten start

Mathare United ended KCB’s unbeaten start to the season by beating the Bankers 1-0 at the Dandora Stadium over the weekend.

The Slum Boys only goal was bagged by Meshack Otieno in the 55th minute in what was their third win of the season and only the fourth goal the bankers have conceded this season; the win coming despite the team suspending four of their players for two weeks for a breach of contract.

Mara Sugar’s impressive debut in the top flight continues

Mara Sugar proved once again that they won’t be pushovers this season by beating Bidco United 3-0 as they rose to second on the table.

Mara’s goals were scored by Michael Isabwa and Meshack Karani in the first half in what was their fourth win in seven games and are only three points below leaders KCB.
