The cases aim to address alleged financial & administrative irregularities with the accusations including Eto’o’s 22 month suspended prison sentence in Spain for tax fraud, claims of corruption, possible match fixing and alleged bribes linked to betting company.
Further reports suggest the mismanagement of 1.5 million dollar from friendly matches against Mexico, Russia and South Korea.
It has been reported that the cases included FECAFOOT’s ability to silencing dissent, notably with the controversial 10 year suspension of executive member Guibai Gatama and of manipulating internal regulations to block independent candidates from elections.
Nsahlai stressed the lawsuits aren’t smear campaign against Eto’o’s playing legacy describing him as one of Africa’s greatest icons.
He said the legal effort seeks to “rescue the governance of Cameroonian football” and ensure values of integrity and fair play are upheld.
