Harambee Stars’ new head coach Benni McCarthy will hand Australian-born midfielder William Lenkupae his first call-up to the National team for the upcoming assignments, Pepeta can confirm.

McCarthy is eager to check on the player’s potential and level ahead of a potential switch to play for the Kenyan national team as he widens his scope on players who could feature for the national team despite having been born outside the country.

Born 23 years ago in London, Wilson is currently in the books of Australia A-League side Central Coast Mariners a club he joined in August 2023 from another Australian club Melbourne Victory; the player having spent his youth career with Victory’s Youth team.

The midfielder has made five appearances for his team this season with his last appearance for the club coming in January 2025 in a 4-1 loss away to Sydney in the A-League. In the game, he was introduced in the 71st minute for Vitor Feijao.

The player was part of the Central Coast team that won the league in the 2023 season in the same season that bagged the AFC Cup title.
