The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) was among football bodies commended by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe for successfully hosting the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania hosted the CHAN tournament from August 2-30th where Morocco were crowned overall winners with all the hosts reaching the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.

While meeting leaders from the CECAFA Zone in Kinsasha, DR Congo ahead of the CAF Ordinary General Assembly, Motsepe credited the tournament for reviving football in East Africa and brought closer collaboration between Governments, Sponsors and the football supporters.
Taking to social media, FKF President Hussein Mohammed said, “CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe’s acknowledgment that CECAFA hosted the best CHAN in the history of the tournament is a powerful validation of the passion, resilience and potential within our region.
“East Africa is finally receiving the recognition it deserves, but the task ahead remains immense. We must continue working with unity and purpose to give CECAFA the giant status it deserves in African and global football.
“Represented Kenya at the CECAFA Zonal meeting in Kinshasa earlier today ahead of Monday’s CAF Ordinary General Assembly.”
The CECAFA leadership was led by Acting President, Alexandre Muyenge, who is also the President of the Burundi Football body.
