Kenyan President William Ruto was honoured with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award during the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony held in Morocco on Wednesday night.
The award, which was conferred by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, recognises the head of state’s growing commitment to strengthening sports structures and investing in football pathways across the country.

The award comes after Kenya successfully hosted the African Nations Championship (CHAN) with the Kenyan Ambassador to Morocco, Joseph Gakinya, receiving the award on behalf of the President.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed, who was in attendance during the award, took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the head of State.
“Our Head of State William Ruto received a special award for his support towards football development in Kenya at the #CAFAwards2025. Kenyan Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya, received the award on behalf of the President.
“With the elaborate support structure the government is putting in place for sports and particularly football, I have no doubt our players shall soon be recipients of these coveted accolades as well,” he said.
In August, the Head of State led Kenya in co-hosting the most successful football tournament in the history where the country was eliminated in the quarterfinal stage.
