Harambee Stars midfielder Anthony Akumu wasn’t in the match-day squad as Sagan Tosu began their Japanese J1 League season with a 5-1 loss at the hands of Shonan Bellmare on Saturday morning.
Akumu who signed for the team earlier in the year is expected to be a key member of the team this season but the club is yet to release any information why the Kenyan didn’t make the team.

In the game, Ohashi gave visitors Bellmare a third-minute lead before doubling his and his team’s lead in the 36th minute. Bellmare ensured they had a healthy lead when Hiraoka added a third minutes to the break but Tosu pulled a goal back just before the halftime break.
Ohashi wasn’t done with the scoring yet as he completed his hattrick on the hour mark with Onose grabbing a fifth four minutes later in what was the last goal of the game.
Tosu will be hoping to forget about the opening day loss when they travel to Gamba Osaka for their next league game slated for Saturday 25th February at the Panasonic Stadium; Osaka opening their season with a 2-2 draw against Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday morning.
