Everton will be in the Premier League next season following a hard-fought 1-0 win over AFC Bournemouth on the final day of the season.
In a drama-filled day that saw Leicester leapfrog them on the log as the Foxes took a lead against West Ham in another game but Abdoulaye Doucouré lashed his half-volley into the back of the net to push Everton back into Premier League safety.
In the other games in the relegation fight, Leeds association with the Premier League for the past three seasons ended following their 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road.
Dean Smith’s Leicester also went down despite their 2-1 win over West Ha, on the same day. The Foxes had taken a two-goal lead through Barnes and Faes and even left the relegation zone for some time but the Everton win ensures that they head back to the Championship.
Aston Villa will play in Europe next year after securing a UEFA Conference league slot following their 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at Villa Park. All the goals were scored in the first half with Villa taking a two-goal lead inside 26 minutes through Douglas Luiz and Ollie Watkins but Undav reduced the arrears only for Brighton to fail to mount a comeback.
