Swedish side AIK, home to Kenyan defender Eric Ouma, has appointed former Manchester United defender Henning Berg as their new head coach.
Despite their win over Bromma on Saturday, AIK decided to send the coach Andreas Brännström parking as they sit a place off the relegation zone having collected just ten points after 13 games.

“Andreas is a top coach and a fantastic person. Unfortunately, the results under his leadership have not been good enough or in line with the club’s ambitions and therefore we choose today to end our collaboration. We wish Andreas the best of luck in his continued career, which we are convinced will be successful,” the club’s sporting director Thomas Berntsen said in a statement.
On appointing Berg who spent ten years in the Engish top flight with United and Blackburn Rovers, IK said: “AIK Football is proud to welcome Henning Berg as the new head coach. Of course, we cannot ignore his illustrious career as a player, but it is primarily his results as a coach that is decisive because we believe he is very suitable to be the new head coach of the men’s team. Henning is a league champion in several countries as a responsible coach, and he has extensive experience from various leagues, says the men’s team’s sporting director Thomas Berntsen.”
Berg whose last job came with Norwegian club Pafos FC where he left in April has less time to rest on his laurels as his team will be up against Hacken on Saturday.
