Speaking at the event, Nzoia Sugar head coach Salim Babu welcomed the move to have as many youth teams as possible as it was the only way that would secure the future of football in the country.
“The federation has done well in bringing the coaches together because it was a platform where we shared a lot of ideas on how to better our game. The idea (of having a youth league) is brilliant and should be encouraged. We want to see more academies and more centers (Of excellence) as there are a lot of talents wasted at the youth level since most of them don’t have anywhere to go.
“I’m sure that in the next ten years, the country will have a better crop of players than what we have currently if we can address the youth structures,” Babu said.
Apart from Babu, Tusker’s Robert Matano, KCB’s Zedekiah Otieno, John Baraza of Kakamega Homeboyz, William Muluya of Kariobangi Sharks, Gor Mahia’s Jonathan McKinstry, Bidco’s Anthony Akhulia, and Bandari’s Anthony Kimani also attended the session.
