Ellie Asieche and Brian Michira have laid early markers in this season’s golden boot race in the Sportpesa League.
The duo have three goals after Match Week Four as the league heads for a break for the FIFA international window.

Shabana’s Michira who bagged 12 goals last season is among the favourites to walk home with the top scorers gong having opened his season with a brace against debutants APS Bomet before following it up with a goal against Shabana FC. He was to be withdrawn in their last game against Tusker FC which ended in a 1-1 draw.
As for Asieche, the midfielder is rolling back the years having been deployed in a more advanced role this season by his Mathare United head coach John Kamau. The former Sofapka FC man with a goal from the penalty spot in their loss against Posta Rangers.
The midfielder popped up with the solo goal in their 1-0 win over KCB FC, drew blank in their third game against Tusker FC and scored the consolation for the Slum boys in their weekend’s loss to their slum rivals Kariobangi Sharks.

Another player who has taken the league by storm is Posta Rangers striker Eliud Lokuwam who has three goals to his name. The player has bagged three goals in as many appearances to propel his team to second on the table.
While he failed to score in their opening day win over Mathare United, Lokuwam grabbed a brace in their comeback win over Tusker FC and earned his side a point when they came from behind twice to draw AFC Leopards 2-2 in their last outing.
