Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Hesbon Nyabinge has announced his departure from the club after just four matches into the 2025/26 SportPesa Premier League season.

Nyabinge has not given a reason for his departure, but it is allleged that there has been growing disquiet within the Homeboyz technical bench, leading to his exit.

He returned to the club in November 2024 as a second assistant coach and as the physical trainer under Francis Baraza, the then-head coach. However, when Baraza exited the club, Nyabinge was promoted to the assistant coach under the new coach, Patrick Odhiambo, with Paul Okatwa taking up the second assistant coach position.

Nyabinge announced his exit from the former Mozzart Bet Cup winners through a social media post stating, “As I conclude my time with Kakamega Homeboyz FC, I am grateful for the journey, the growth, and the teamwork shared. It is been a rewarding chapter, and I now look forward to new opportunities ahead,” read his post.

In the exit post, Nyabinge did not state the reason for his departure from the Kakamega based side, but reports indicate there has been growing disquiet within the Homeboyz technical bench, which reportedly peaked, leading to an exchange of words among the staff after a 2-0 loss to Nairobi United on October 11.

The CAF A coaching lincense holder is known for his role in youth development having previously handled his alma mater, Kakamega High School. He has also coached Western Stima as an assistant coach and had a stint with Kenya’s national youth teams—U20, U17, and U23. In his playing days, he played for Western Stima and Sony Sugar.

Homeboyz currently sits 3rd in the 2025/26 SportPesa Premier League table with seven points, having won two, drawn one, and lost one in their opening four matches. They play Ulinzi Stars at home on Saturday October 25, at 2 pm EAT.
