AFC Leopards has completed the signing of Posta Rangers captain Ken Owino in one of the most followed deals in the current window.

The player signed between the dotted lines on Friday after a tug-of-war between the two sides had threatened to jeopardize the move. Rangers had earlier asked for sh 1M for the defender but Leopards were hesitant to release such amount for a player who was to leave for free in June next year.

Pepeta can reveal that Leopards had shown interest in the player last year but talks gathered pace when the January 2024 transfer window opened where it was agreed that Owino would cost sh 800k. While Rangers insisted on the sh 1M, Leopards’ negotiation team worked to reduce the amount to sh 800k.

With the amount agreed in the last fortnight, Leopards wanted to pay the amount in two installments something Rangers wasn’t going to buy, and after standing their ground, they got their wish this week with the defender attending his medicals on Thursday.

The player who has scored two goals and provided three assists this season has previously featured for Leopards rivals Gor Mahia and Western Stima in the Kenyan top flight.
