Tusker FC’s new signing Ian Simiyu has described his move to the club as a step up in his career.

Simiyu joins the brewers from National Super League side Nzoia Sugar FC where he was the top scorer and will be looking to fight the league’s top scorer Ryan Ogam for a starting position at the club.

Speaking during his unveiling, Simiyu said, “I am really excited to join Tusker FC because this is a big step in my career. This is a winning team and the mentality is quite brilliant. As a player, you always want to step up in your career and this is one for me.

“When we had a conversation with the coach, I was immediately sold to the project and the fact that he feels I will be an integral member of his team gave me more confidence. I am excited about what is ahead.”

On his side, Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere admitted that they had been following the player for some time now and is happy with his abilities more so as he works on improving his strike force.

“He is a player that we have keenly followed throughout the first leg of the NSL and we are optimistic that he brings with him a lot of potential. We know that he has what can spur our forward line and will bring the necessary competition to the team,” Okere said.

Simiyu who is currently the NSL top scorer with 13 goals and six assists has penned a two-year contract at Ruaraka.
