Gor Mahia defender Alphonse Omija has completed a move to Tunisia giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel, the club has confirmed.
Omija had been excused from the Harambee Stars camp by head coach Benni McCarthy to complete the deal and missed the country’s win over Seychelles on Tuesday evening.

In a short message on their social media handles, Sahel noted, “Warmly Welcome to” Harambee Star” Alphonse Omija. Let’s shine together with Étoile Sportive du Sahel.”
The 22 year old becomes the latest Harambee Stars player to move out of the country after a brilliant African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign where Kenya were ousted in the quarterfinals in their first appearance in the competition.
Omija’s serious journey in football started at Gor Mahia youth before being snapped by Kariobangi Sharks. He had a brief stint with Oman side Dhofar Club before returning to Gor Mahia in 2024 where he was a key player in their defence.
He joins a Sahel side who finished third in the 2024/25 season in the Tunisia Ligue Professionnelle 1 and who will be representing the county in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.
