Gor Mahia patron Raila Odinga has died at the age of 80, his family has confirmed.
Indian police told the AFP news agency that he was walking with family members and a personal doctor “when he suddenly collapsed”. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

Raila’s last meeting with his club came earlier in the month where he hosted their officials at his Karen home and wished them well in the new season; the meeting seeing him give sh 10Million to help the club in the season.
“As the new football season kicks off, I had the pleasure of being briefed by Gor Mahia Football Club’s executive team, led by Chairman Ambrose Rachier, on the club’s campaign plans for the season. Wishing K’Ogalo all the very best as they fly the Green flag higher and strive to return as champions once again. Let’s go Gor Mahia,” Raila tweeted.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation about his health, although family members and political allies had dismissed reports suggesting he was critically ill.
Politicians and other leaders, including Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, have been sending their condolences.
Odinga inspired a passionate and loyal following throughout his political career, especially in western Kenya, where he was from. His supporters called him “Baba” (Father), “Agwambo” (Act of God), and “Tinga” (Tractor) – drawn from his party’s symbol during the 1997 elections.
He will be remembered for his unwavering fight for democratic freedoms and human rights.
