Tanzania’s planned FIFA international friendly against Morocco on October 5 has been cancelled after five Taifa Stars players suffered injuries during their training camp in Tangier.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) made the decision after receiving a medical report on the affected players and consulting head coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi.

TFF confirmed that the injuries left the players unavailable for the match, prompting the federation and technical bench to call off the encounter.
Tanzania travelled to Morocco with a 23-man squad after their 1-1 draw against Madagascar in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers on September 29. Cyprian Kachwele scored Tanzania’s goal in Meknès. The result followed a 2-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their opening Group L fixture.
Although Tanzania are already assured of a place at AFCON 2027 as co-hosts alongside Kenya and Uganda, Gamondi has used the qualifiers to assess new players and build his squad.
The cancelled friendly denies the coach another opportunity to test his team against one of Africa’s leading sides.
Tanzania’s camp had already suffered a difficult outing, with a heavily rotated Taifa Stars side losing 5-0 to Moroccan club FAR Rabat.
Their immediate focus now shifts to player recovery and squad management ahead of future international assignments.
