Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman and Gabonese champions Mangasport were among the biggest winners as the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2026/27 First Preliminary Round continued across Africa on Saturday.
Al Hilal took a major step towards the Second Preliminary Round with a 2-0 away victory over Burundi’s Aigle Noir, putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg in Sudan.

Mangasport also secured a healthy advantage after beating Namibia’s African Stars 3-1 at home.
Tunisia’s Club Africain claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Djoliba and will take the advantage to Mali for the second leg.
Madagascar’s CFFA recorded a 2-0 home win against Lesotho’s Lijabatho, while South Sudan’s El Merriekh Bentiu edged Somalia’s Heegan 1-0.
Senegalese side Teungueth secured one of the day’s valuable away victories, beating Guinea-Bissau’s FC Canchungo 1-0. They will now look to finish the job at home.

Several ties remain finely balanced. Vipers of Uganda drew 1-1 with Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou, while FC San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire were held to a 1-1 draw by Nigeria’s Rivers United.
Sudan’s Al Merreikh earned a narrow 1-0 win over Zambia’s Power Dynamos, but face a difficult return leg away from home.
In Botswana, Gaborone United were held 1-1 by Tanzanian giants Young Africans, leaving the tie wide open ahead of the return in Dar es Salaam.
There were also goalless draws between Aiglons and Sidaama Buna, as well as Star Sport Academy and Medina United.
The return legs will be played from September 11-13, with the winners advancing to the Second Preliminary Round.
