CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe said the appointment followed a comprehensive selection process, which included publicly advertising the position and interviewing several candidates.

Adamu brings significant experience in football administration, having joined CAF in 2018 as Director of Competitions before progressing to the role of Director of Tournaments and Events.

During his time at the continental governing body, he has been involved in the organisation and delivery of several major competitions, including CAF’s flagship tournament, the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He is also a graduate of the FIFA Master programme in International Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, an advanced qualification focused on the business and administration of sport.

In his new role, Adamu will oversee CAF’s day-to-day operations and administration while supporting the implementation of the organisation’s strategic priorities.
