FIFA President Gianni Infantino has reaffirmed FIFA’s commitment to supporting football development in Kenya after meeting President William Ruto and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed in New York.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and also brought together Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Infantino described the engagement with Ruto as productive in a post on his social media handles, recalling their previous meeting and highlighting the President’s support for football development in Kenya.
“Having met President Ruto last year, I am aware of his love for our game and his conviction that football can truly make a positive impact on people’s lives,” Infantino said.
He also pointed to FIFA’s development plans in Kenya, including the establishment of a national technical centre and implementation of the FIFA Arena project.
Mohammed, in his own update, said the discussions focused on strengthening the Kenya-FIFA partnership, football development, infrastructure, capacity building and preparations for AFCON 2027.
He added that the meeting covered progress on the FIFA Arena project, a modern technical centre and the possibility of a FIFA-standard stadium in Mombasa to serve the Coast region and strengthen Kenya’s position as a hub for international football and sports tourism.
Infantino also highlighted Kenya’s upcoming international engagements, including the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will co-host with Tanzania and Uganda.
“Together, as partners, we remain aligned on our vision for Kenyan football,” Infantino said, adding that FIFA, with the support of the Kenyan government and FKF, would continue providing opportunities, infrastructure and pathways for the youth of Kenya.
The New York meeting comes as Kenya steps up preparations for AFCON 2027 while pursuing wider football development projects with FIFA.
