Kenya Under-20 football team head coach Salim Babu has insisted that they will be going for the title in the Africa Cup of Nations Under 20 Qualifiers, CECAFA Zone which kicks off this weekend.

Kenya will begin their campaign against hosts Tanzania on Saturday with the finalists of the competition having the chance to represent the CECAFA region in the continental assignment something that Babu is well aware of.

“The morale is high. We’ve been in camp, and some boys have joined us from Europe, which has boosted the morale of the ones we already had around,” Babu said. “Everyone is ready, and we know we must win the title to qualify.”

The team will be travelling to Tanzania without midfielder Stanley Wilson who is expected to join the team later but the coach believes his team is fully prepared for the challenge ahead; Babu going further ahead to urge Kenyans to make it to Tanzania to support the team.

“If you can travel, travel. We won’t fail you, and we are going for the AFCON qualifiers title. We promise you a good show,” Babu added.

Kenya’s first game is against hosts Tanzania on October 6, 2024, at the KMC Stadium before facing Rwanda on October 10, Djibouti on October 13, and Sudan on October 15 in their final group match.
