KCB FC have suffered a major setback after scans confirmed that captain Humphrey Mieno sustained a complete tear of his right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during their recent league encounter against Gor Mahia.

The injury is expected to keep the experienced midfielder out of action for an extended period, dealing a blow to the Bankers as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures in the SportPesa League.

Despite the setback, KCB head into their next assignment on the back of a positive run of results, having collected 10 points from their opening five matches.

The Bankers began their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Nairobi United before recording a 1-0 victory over Mathare United. They subsequently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Posta Rangers but bounced back with a 3-1 win against Mombasa United.

Their latest outing saw them register an important 2-1 victory over Gor Mahia, taking their tally to three wins, one draw and one defeat from five matches.

KCB will now turn their attention to their Round Six assignment against APS Bomet, scheduled for tomorrow, in the opening fixture of the round.
