Newly appointed Kenya U17 national team head coach, William Muluya, has named the final 25-man squad for the Under-17 CECAFA tournament scheduled to take place from Saturday, 15 November to Tuesday, 2 December, in Ethiopia.

The squad features a blend of emerging talents, most of whom played in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games. The squad has mainly been selected from different schools across the country.

Some of the notable names included are Brighton Moses, Julius Ochieng, Derrick Muchiti, and Derrick Khatete from Green Commandos. Raphael Omondi of Ongata Senior School. Omondi has since SportPesa League side Kariobangi Sharks from FKF Division Two club Lucky Summer Sports.

Kisumu Day duo of Trevor Nassario and Neville Simiyu have also been called. In the squad is also Bwake Boys Goalkeeper Golan Oliech. Oliech was part of the team that featured in the same competition in 2024 in Tanzania.

The Junior Stars will compete in Group A alongside Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Rwanda as they seek one of two available slots for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Kenya will open its campaign against Somalia on Tuesday, 18 November at 4 pm EAT before facing Rwanda on Friday, 21 November at 1 pm, South Sudan on Monday, 24 November at 4 pm and hosts Ethiopia on Thursday, 27 November at 3 pm. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the finalists earning CECAFA’s two tickets to the continental showpiece.

Kenya U-17 Full Squad for AFCON CECAFA Qualifiers

Goalkeepers: Georgian Chris, Golan Oliech and William Owino.

Defenders: Cosmas Asunga, Eugene Ochieng, Nevil Simiyu, Stephen Ochieng, Edwin Annan, Raphael Omondi, Brighton Moses, Julius Ochieng and Trevor Maluki.

Midfielders: Derrick Mchiti, Wayne Wamaya, Derrick Khatete, Rayse Ochieng, Armstrong Omondi, Brighton Nacheri and Denzel Omollo.

Forwards: Nicholas Onyango, Trevor Nasasiro, Nathan Achola, Collins Ochieng, Jeconia Agutu and Marcos William.

The team will depart for Ethiopia on Monday, November 10.
