A brace from Gundogan (who missed a late penalty) was all City needed to widen the gap between them and Arsenal despite Leeds, who had Sam Allardyce in the dugout for the first time this season, piling pressure late on after Rodrigo had come off the bench to pull a goal back.

At Anfield, Mohamed Salah continued his goalscoring streak as his solo effort was all Liverpool needed to overcome Brentford 1-0. The win saw the Red close the gap on Manchester United in 4th place to one point, but the Red Devils have two games in hand on Jürgen Klopp’s men.

Frank Lampard won his first game in charge of Chelsea following his side’s 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.

And it was the Blues who took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes as Conor Gallagher headed in past Neto after a late run into the area. Just moments later, however, the home side were ahead as Viña finished brilliantly from the edge of the area.

Chelsea would make the most of their quality with seven minutes to go as Benoit Badiashile headed in before Joao Felix added a third.
