Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has aimed a slight dig at Gor Mahia’s style of play during their goalless draw at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Matano who has been very vocal in defending his team expressed shock in the ‘long-ball’ display exhibited by his opponent Jonathan McKinstry who he said had been a great critic of his team.

“We contained them in the first half and they started playing long balls in the second half. I’m surprised that even Gor Mahia can play long balls. I thought it was only Tusker who play long long balls. The coach has been criticizing me that we have been playing bad football but there is nothing we can learned from him and in fact we played better football than him. You cannot kill a lion with a stone,” Matano said in his post-match interview.

Matano was further critical of the match day second assistant whom he accused of denying them a clear goal.
“We scored a goal and the linesman refused. The cross from the right couldn’t be in an offside position but that’s the way it is. All in all the game was balanced, we got some chances that we didn’t bury and that’s why the game ended scoreless. I’m happy that we didn’t concede and we are still on top and we are going to fight until the end,” he added.
Tusker has three crucial fixtures left as they aim to defend their title. They have Wazito next in their roster before taking Posta Rangers and Vihiga Bullets respectively.
