KCB FC head coach Robert Matano has hailed his team’s cohesion after recording a 2-0 win over Tusker FC in their opening game in the Sportpesa League.
A first half brace from Boniface Omondi was all KCB needed to win the game and according to Matano, the cohesion they have had in the past two months played a key role in them winning the tie against his former employers.

“We have been together for the last two months and that cohesion has been important in preparing for the season starting with this (Tusker) game. We had confidence heading into the game and I feel the boys played the way I instructed them to do,”Matano said after the game.
The veteran tactician was however coy when asked about his title chances with KCB having won four league titles with different teams in the Kenyan top flight.
“We have just played one game (so talking about the title is still early) and the journey is still long. We are taking each game at a time and will talk along the way about our title chances after gauging the kind of team I have,” he added.
Attention for the bankers now shifts to their next game where they are set to host Mathare United who lost their league opener against Posta Rangers on Monday night.
